Site Watch / SiteWatch Premium
Privacy Policy & Disclaimer
CHRONO SHIFT, K.K. ("we", "us") sets out below how user information is handled in its Android apps "Site Watch" (free version) and "SiteWatch Premium" (paid version) (together, "the App"), and the conditions for using the App. The App watches web pages that you register and notifies you when they change. Your data is, as a rule, processed only on your device.
1. Information the App handles
- Monitors you register: name, URL, watched area (CSS selector), check method, check interval, alert keywords and do-not-notify words
- Text of the fetched web pages, images and fingerprints used for comparison, change history, check times and error records
- Session information such as cookies and the user agent for sites you log in to in the in-app browser
- Settings you choose: notification sound, quiet hours, email recipient, SMTP settings and webhook URL
No account is required. We do not collect personal information such as your name or contact details, or usage data, through the App.
2. Purpose of use
This information is used only to check the registered web pages regularly, detect changes and notify you, and to keep the App's settings and history on your device.
3. Storage and transmission
Monitor settings, fetched results, history and notification settings are stored on your device. The SMTP password is stored using Android's encrypted storage. We do not operate any server that receives this information, and the App does not use any advertising or analytics SDKs (including crash reporting).
To do its job, the App connects directly from your device to the websites you register. In "fast mode", a hidden browser on your device re-fetches only the page text (HTML); in "visual comparison", a hidden browser on your device renders the page and compares how it looks. Neither goes through our servers.
If you choose to turn on external alerts, the following information is sent to the destination you specify. How it is handled there is governed by that service's terms and privacy policy.
- Email alerts: the monitor name, the watched URL and the alert text are sent from the SMTP server you set up to the email address you specify.
- Webhook alerts: the monitor name, the watched URL and the alert text are sent to the webhook URL you set up (Discord, Slack, etc.).
For safety, please use HTTPS URLs for watched pages and webhooks.
4. Moving from the free version to Premium
If you install and open "SiteWatch Premium" on a device that has "Site Watch" (free version), the free version's monitors (URL, watched area, keywords, interval, history and alert settings) are transferred to Premium on the device. The transfer uses Android's secure app-to-app sharing within the same device and only responds to a request from our genuine Premium app. The transferred data is never sent to us or to any third party. Login state (cookies), the SMTP password and the notification sound are not transferred.
5. Cookies and login state
When you watch a page that requires a login, the App accesses that site using the cookies kept by Android WebView. Cookies are used only to communicate with the watched site and are never sent to us.
6. Device permissions and why they are used
- Internet access
- To fetch the registered web pages and to send the email or webhook alerts you set up
- Notifications
- To alert you when a change is detected
- Foreground service (background monitoring)
- To keep checking at short intervals, from as little as 1 second (10 seconds in the free version) up to 10 minutes, even when the app is closed. While monitoring, an ongoing notification is shown in the status bar.
- Wake lock and boot completed
- To keep the device from sleeping in the middle of a check, and to resume monitoring automatically after the device restarts
- Ignoring battery optimization
- So that battery saving does not stop short-interval monitoring (optional)
7. Deleting data
The data stored by the App is on your device, and you can delete individual monitors in the App. Clearing the App's data or uninstalling the App deletes the data it stored on your device. Information already sent as external alerts is subject to the retention and deletion policies of the destination service.
8. Sharing with third parties
Except as required by law, we do not provide the information the App handles on your device to any third party. Email and webhook alerts that you set up are sent on your instructions.
9. Children
The App is not designed for or directed at children.
10. Terms of use and disclaimer
- Before monitoring a site, check and follow its terms of service, access conditions, robots.txt and other policies, as well as applicable laws.
- Do not use the App on sites that prohibit or restrict automated access, scraping, crawling or monitoring.
- Do not use the App to bypass authentication or access restrictions, to access sites at excessively short intervals, or in any way that interferes with a site's operation.
- The App does not grant you permission to access any site. You are responsible for choosing what to monitor and for how you use the App.
- Except where we are at fault, we are not liable for any damage, access restriction, claim or dispute suffered by you or any third party arising from your breach of a site's terms, violation of law or other improper use.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App's features or applicable laws change. We will announce important changes on this page or in the App's release notes.
12. Contact
For questions about this policy or the App, please use the contact form on the CHRONO SHIFT, K.K. website or the developer contact shown on the App's Google Play listing.
